Briefing of HCV Program

Bogalusa Housing (HCV) Program, Formerly known as the Section 8 / Housing Assistance Program, is the most recent concept in Public Housing. Through the program low income families are afforded the opportunity to lease from landlords at one's discretion in the private market. Prospective residents may enter into a one year lease agreement or shorter with landlrods of qualifying units. Lease agreement must be in accordance with all provisions of the HUD prescribed tenancy addendum. A resident will pay a portion of his income approximately 30% not to exceed 40% during initial lease up to the landlord. BHA will pay the remainder subsidy directly to the landlord.

Applying to HCV program

When the HCV waiting list opens, it will be advertised in the Bogalusa Daily News, website, and local social service agencies prior to opening date. Applications will be available online. Either complete online or download application, fill out by hand, and mail it to P.O. Box 1113 Bogalusa, La 70429. Waiting List will stay open for seven days. Applicant has from initial opening to close date to submit applications. All applicants who submit an application during this time will receive a notice acknowledging receipt/eligibility status within 60 days. Elderly ages 60 and above who want help filling out the application can call the Bogalusa Senior Center @ (985) 732-6869 to set up an appointment.
